Water is poured onto our crystal ball, creating ripples in the surrounding calm water. With the horizon line splitting our crystal ball in half, this scene perfectly captures the beautiful Presque Isle and Misery Bay sunset.
Misery Bay was originally Little Bay, and Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry kept a fleet of ships there during the War of 1812. After a battle at Put-in-Bay, Perry returned to Little Bay for repairs and recovery. According to PA.gov and legend, in the following two winters, many of Perry’s crew died and were buried in a nearby pond. This devastation led to Little Bay being renamed Misery Bay. You can see Misery Bay in Erie, PA by navigating through Presque Isle and to Perry Monument.
